Ms Fatuma Ibrahim who was stabbed in the cheek by her husband has today undergone a successful surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Speaking during a press briefing KNH CEO Lilly Koros says it took more than five surgeons to carry out the delicate operation which took them hours.
She added that apart from the knife launched in the cheek Fatuma also sustained multiple stab wound injuries on the abdomen, legs and chest.
She says the health of Fatuma matters a lot more than the medical bill which will be sorted out later after the full recovery and the counseling session of the patient who is currently responding to medication at the facility.
Dr.Margret Makanyengo in charge of counseling at the facility says almost 50% of the women in Kenya suffer gender based violence which is attributed to culture and alcohol.
She condemned the act terming it evil and urged women to speak out and report gender based violence cases.
