Three of the remaining babies of the QUINTUPLETS born over the weekend in Homa Bay County have died.
The remaining three newborns were taken to the Matata Hospital and later referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) after developing complications.
Health officials stated that one of the babies died of pneumonia while the other one had blood which had not fully formed.
In medical history, quintuplets only occur in one out of 60 million births making it a rare case.
The mother, a 30-year-old woman identified as Jacintah Akinyi first gave birth to two boys at her home in Kachieng East Kamagak in Kasipul Sub County but they both died.
When she complained of pain, she was rushed to Matata Nursing Home in Oyugis town and gave birth to two girls and a boy.
According to John Malago, the director at the hospital, the woman did not attend any clinic throughout her pregnancy and she told doctors that this was her sixth pregnancy.
