A group of women activists has strongly condemned the recent gang raping and attempted murder of a woman in Kibarani Mombasa County.
Irene Aisha, was reportedly gang raped by assailants known to her who then tied her on the railway leaving her for dead two weeks ago.
The activists led by Mike Wachira ,Deputy Director of Center of Rights Education and Awareness Kenya now wants the government and the inspector general to launch investigations into the matter and prosecute the culprits.
Wachira also said that they would like the office of public prosecution to expand the database of special prosecutors in police stations countrywide and fully resource gender desks to handle such cases with ease.
Africa unite said they stand with Aisha and are seeking ways to help with the legal measures against her perpetrators.
