Water CS Simon Chelungui says Water rationing in Nairobi will continue until Ndakaini dam water levels improve.

Addressing the press this morning concerning the lack of water in Ndakaini dam despite rains, Chelungui intimated that the Degradation of the Abadare catchment and climactic changes have contributed to low rainfall in parts of Abadare forest thus affecting water flow in Ndakaini dam.

He disputed reports that there are cartels leaking the dam’s water to create an artificial shortage.

He instead clarified that catchment area of Ndakaini dam depends on Aberdare catchment which has received low rainfall than most parts of the surrounding areas including the Mt.Kenya catchment area.
