Wario charged with six counts of abuse of office

Kenya’s ambassador to Austria,Hassan Wario was today charged in court after surrendering at DCI headquarters yesterday over graft allegation during the Rio Olympics.

The former Sports Cabinet Secretary pleaded not guilty to the six counts of abuse of office that have been leveled against him and was released on a cash bail of 1 million.

Judge Douglas Ogoti released on a Ksh. 2 million bond with an alternative of a Ksh. 1 million cash bail.

Wario was charged alongside former director of administration Haron Komen who was facing 3 counts of abuse of office among them getting air tickets without planning.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) however requested that the plea on athletics legend Kipchoge Keino be deferred for seven days.
