Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu

The Kiambu county assembly has pledged to back another controversial Bill by Kiambu Governor Ferdidand Waititu seeking to strip police officers and chiefs  power to arrest illicit brew perpetrators.

The Bill now wants arresting powers be given to the county askaris.

Githurai Mwiki MCA James Kimani Kidim says they have adopted the proposals and the house will now proceed to debate and pass it.

The MCAs argue that police officers and chiefs are busy collecting bribes in illicit brew dens while generations are being swept  by alcohol in the county and entire central province.

Meanwhile the assembly has also passed Alcoholic and Drinks Control bill that  has granted  the county government more powers to regulate alcohol business in county with hefty penalties clauses to offenders.

Kiambu has been a hot spot for illicit brews and second generation alcohol and its seems the fight against the vice by the state is becoming fruitless.
