Kenyan comedian Charles Kimani popularly known for playing Masakun on the 90s popular show Vioja mahakamani has passed on.
Masaku passed on last Friday June 29th at Mbagathi hospital after he was admitted at the facility.
According to the actor’s daughter Pauline Wanja, her father succumbed to chronic diabetes which he had battled for the past eight years.
The actor was first admitted at Mama Lucy hospital Umoja before he was transfered to Mbagathi Hospital due to lack of equipment at mama Lucy.
Masaku had been discharged last week on Tuesday but his condition got worse leading him to be re admitted at Mbagathi following a referral from Mama Lucy Hospital.
Masaku was among the lead actors in KBC’s Vioja Mahakamani and Vitimbi alongside the late Benson Wanjau alias Mzee Ojwang.
Several actors including Hirum Mungai (Ondiek Nyuka kwota) Mary Kavere(mama Kayai) and David Mwambili (Mwala) expressed their grief at the actor’s death describing him as a veteran actor that loved his job down to the last minute.
Masaku is survived by his three children Pauline Wanja, Eunice Wanjiru and David Kagera.
His son Kagera who lived with him at his residence in Kayole’s Matopeni area is the one who has been looking after him.
Funeral arrangements are currently on going at his home in Matopeni, Kayole.
Masaku will be laid to rest on 10th July at his rural home in Ithanga Murang’a county.
