Veteran gikuyu singer Joseph Kamaru has passed on at the age of 89.
Kamaru passed on last night at the MP Shah hospital where he was rushed on Monday 1st October.
DP Uhuru Kenyatta,Raila Odinga and other politicians have joined Kenyans in mourning the fallen icon.
“What a sad moment for the lovers of Benga! Waking up another day with a sad news that Kenya has lost a big icon in the music industry. He has enriched Kikuyu culture perfectly and in a big way. We’ll live to remember Mzee Joseph Kamaru. Deepest condolences to family. #RIPKamaru” Tweeted DP Ruto.
“I have learnt of the passing of my friend and legendary musician Joseph Kamaru whose music inspired generations in central Kenya and beyond to reflect deeply on profound political, cultural and social issues. It is truly the end of an era. God rest his soul in peace” shared Raila Odinga.
