Umoiner matatus have downed their tools because of competition

Umoja’s Umoiner matatu owners have gone on strike to protest a new matatu Sacco plying the route.

Umoiner drivers said Risen Limited sacco which plies the Komarock route has been picking passengers from Umoja as opposed to Komarock.

The drivers are now calling on the Transport Licensing board to revoke the Saccos license saying they cannot be operating under two linces.

Umoiner also decried the sacco’s fare reduction which they said is interfering with their business.

In 2016 three saccos from Umoja route blocked outering road to protest Risen Limited’s registration.

The then new Sacco, Risen Limited, got a court order to operate after its TLB licence was revoked for contravening Sacco rules.
