Residents living at Kwa Maji area in Umoja 3  along Kangundo road are living in fear of eviction after they were instructed to vacate the area by 9th August as per the letters issued to them by the National Buildings Inspectorate.

The plan is to stop illegal development and remove all illegal structures that have no proper documentation.

One of the affected resident says that he has not payed the months rent because they are not sure if they are going to be evicted or not, people are claiming they have documentation to show they bought the land.

“The MP of the area Hon George Theuri told us he would come to tell us the way forward but till now we have not seen his presence,” said an aggrieved tenant.

There are claims that the land belong to a bank which sold it to the people who later constructed on it still there in no clear indication if they are going to be compensated.
