Uhuru unveils new currency coins
The Kenyan government has launched the new set of currency coins in line with the requirements of the 2010 constitution.
President Kenyatta has said that he is proud of this milestone as the new coins have features that make them accessible to the visually impaired.
The coins were crafted through public participation and also present a new face in Kenyan currency .
They also bear historical events in the country as opposed to the face of presidents who have served before.
The 2010 constitution requires all images of people to be removed from the currency and in their place there be images that depict or symbolize Kenya or an aspect of Kenya’s history.
Uhuru also reiterated that banks must provide affordable and available credit for small medium enterprises in the country so as to achieve economic transformation because the country has a lot of young innovative people who do not have tittle deeds but have great ideas.
