President Uhuru Kenyatta has caused a stir among Kenyans after he called for prosecution for his brother Muhoho Kenyatta in case he is found guilty of corruption.
Uhuru who was speaking at the United States Chamber of Commerce Summit at the United Nations in Gigiri said that protect any individual who is involved in corruption.
Uhuru made the remarks just a day after his brother’s company Protech Investment was named as one of the companies involved in the importation of contraband sugar.
Aldai Member of Parliament Cornelius Serem accused Matiang’i of not showing up at the committee because he knew of a company linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother Muhoho Kenyatta supplying the contraband sugar.
Serem was referring to a document that he alleged originated from the Agriculture Ministry that linked Muhoho’s company Protex Ltd for importing some of the contraband sugar.
Committee Chairman Kanini Kega however later intervened by directing Matiang’i to appear before Parliamentary Committee on Friday.
Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri however defended Muhoho following links to the importation of sugar amid a crisis over the contraband.
