Police are looking for a gang of four that attacked an Uber driver and burnt his taxi on Kirichwa Road in Nairobi’s Kilimani suburb.
According to Nairobi Police Chief Japheth Koome, the taxi driver was dropping off a passenger when another car blocked his way and four occupants stormed out armed with a jerrycan of petrol before pouring it on the Uber and setting it on fire.
Koome explained that the arsonists escaped as the car went up in flames.
Koome says his officers will take firm action against those found culpable of Sunday’s action which left the driver badly injured and rushed to hospital.
American taxi service Uber has lately been on the receiving end, not only in Kenya but also in other places like France where rival taxi drivers complain that the company has been undercutting them.
