After a brilliant campaign that saw them win silver in Vancouver, Shujaa have been seeded second in the upcoming seventh round of the HSBC World Sevens Series, which will be held in Hong Kong.
Shujaa, who are in pool ‘B’ will face Australia, Spain and Canada.
Team Kenya will be expecting to keep the momentum, which saw them reach the finals in Vancouver, where they lost to Fiji.
As a result of winning in Canada, Fiji are the top seeds. They will face New Zealand, Russia and Samoa. It was not an easy ride however, they had to fight off the relentless Shujaa.
In the Main Cup final Shujaa drew first blood through Willy Ambaka, who made his 99th career try. The conversion was made by Sammy Oliech who took the tally to 7-0.
The Islanders did not take it lying down and in a matter of seconds, Josua Vakurunabili made a try that was converted by Vatemo Ravouvou taking the tally to 7-7.
Sammy Oliech took advantage of penalty and Kenya was back in charge despite the conversion going wide. However, Fiji made it level through Sevuloni Mocenacagi.
After the break, Fiji proved too hot to handle for Kenya as they made tries at will. Shujaa were left chasing ghosts and the clash came to an end with Kenya losing 31-12
