Nairobi City County Government has refuted claims that they have increased parking fees from current sh. 200 to 400 shillings as reported by a section of the media.
In an exclusive interview with Ghetto radio News Parking Director Tom Tinega has slammed such reports saying they are fabricated news with the intention to confuse motorists.
‘’We have not increased anything the parking fees remain sh. 200 until we shall discus future charges and i am not aware the origin of those increment reports.,’’ Tinega said.
According to him there are intentions to increase the parking fees but as a department no figures have been arrived at.
He further asked motorists to treat the increment reports as fake news and wait for official reports from executive but after approval by the county assembly of Nairobi.
‘’The county government shall give official opposition on this matter after we discuss with the assembly for now the fee is Sh. 200 and nobody should be charged more or less,’’ he reiterated.
When reading budget estimates for financial year 2019/2020, Finance CEC Charles Kerch made it clear that they shall increase the parking fees a move aimed at reducing congestion in the CBD .
