Small scale business operators in Embakasi -lower Pipeline are decrying an alleged reemergence of the outlawed sect known as Mungiki.

The traders claim that the gang believed to be Mungiki is giving them a hard time in managing their businesses by extorting money from them.

They claim that gang of youths is moving from business to business asking for cash in the name of their security fee.

“We are not secure at all. Setting up a business is costly here, running one is equally costly. What do we do and the cost of living has gone up?” posed one trader.

Failure to provide the cash leads to the closure of their business premises.

Both new businesses and other existing businesses are victims and efforts to have security agents help them have been in vain.
