Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres is said to be stable in hospital after suffering a horrific head injury during Atletico Madrid’s La Liga match at Deportivo on Thursday.
The club say that the Spanish attacker will remain in hospital so that he can be closely monitored.The finisher had been taken away in an ambulance after suffering a horrific blow to the head having banged heads with Deportivo’s Alex Bergantinos .
The incident occurred five minutes from time and stayed down in the match that ended with a 1-1 draw.Players from both sides looked concerned about the situation but he was later taken to hospital.
However, the Spain international later released a statement from hospital saying: “It was just a scare. I hope to come back very soon.”
Atletico Madrid revealed the outcome following the medical examinations done on the striker terming that their player was in a stable condition.
“Our player, who is stable, conscious and oriented, had to be removed by ambulance after being stabilized according to the usual protocol, before entering the Model Hospital of La Coruna, where he will spend the night in observation,”Atletico confirmed.
Simeone’s side had conceded on th 13th minute mark when Florin Andone slotted in after a poor goal kick from Jan Oblak.Antoine Griezmann later equalized with a spectacular 68th-minute strike.
