Top student in this year’s KCPE examinations has scored 455 marks.
Education Fred Matiang’i who released the results says stated this was a big improvement from last year’s results that saw the top candidate score 437 marks.
The results which were released at the Kenya Institute of Development studies also saw 9,846 pupils score more than 400 marks.
Matiang’i also noted a major improvement in the performance of Public schools compared to last year with no malpractices reported.
All students who scored more than 400 marks will be admitted in National schools.
According to Matiang’ form one selection exercise will be over by 4th of December and all students will be placed in National Schools by 12th of December.
The marking of this year’s KCPE examinations was Fas-tracked by an automated machine which according to KNEC Boss Professor George Magoha is 99.98 percent accurate.
Over one million pupils sat for the KCPE exams this year.
