Three Traders Arrested With Plastic Bags
The National Environment and Management Authority (NEMA) yesterday arrested three traders who were caught using plastic bags in Nairobi.
NEMA also seized about 500 pieces of bags were seized when NEMA officers made the arrests.
The three are set to be presented in court today.
The authority has however come under sharp criticism by Kenyans who claim that it is targeting the small fish.
A section wants the authority to go for the manufacturers who are apparently distributing the banned plastic bags to the traders.
According to Section 144 of Environmental Management and Coordination Act, any person using banned bags is liable to Kesh. 2 to Ksh. 4 Million fine or imprisonment of 1-4 years.
