Teargas As Police Push Boda Boda Operators Out Of CBD
Boda boda operators in Ngara and the Central Business District are the first casualties following the handing over of functions by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to the National Government.
The boda boda operators who had invaded the CBD despite the ban were moved out of town by police officers who laid an operation starting Wednesday morning.
The operators told Ghetto Radio News that the operation started early morning just a few hours after the National Government had taken over some functions of the county.
“This is the work of the police, they are pushing us out of town, we do not know what they want us to do,” cried the operators.
In Ngara, police lobbed teargas on the operators who had pitched camp along Park Road near the Equity roundabout.
At the Kariokor Roundabout, police created roadblocks blocking the operators from moving into the CBD.
The boda boda riders had for the past few weeks reigned terror riding in high speed without regards of simple road and traffic rules.
