Kenya Nation Union of Teachers has applauded the government’s  move not to re-open schools until the Corona pandemic is dealt with totally.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News, Deputy Secretary General KNUT Hesborn Otieno,  said  pushing the re-opening with a month will not  have a massive effect on what was supposed to be learnt by the  pupils and students as it was only two weeks before schools closure when  they were sent home.

‘‘There was no need to rush and risk the lives of these children ..further the two weeks they lost was just for revision and therefore parents should concentrate much on how to handle them at home as they continue with revisions and assignments that were issued.’’ He said.

He however, asked the government to move with speed and form a task force involving all education stakeholders who will help to determine steps and conditions to be followed before allowing children back  in schools.

‘‘The stakeholder will determine precautions measures now that some of our schools are being used as quarantine centers.’’ He added.
