Sumra probed for setting up Nairobi MCA in Ksh. 5.7 M bribe scam

Former Embakasi South Member of Parliament Irshad Sumra  has denied claims that he was used by Chatur family  the owner of Concord Hotel  in Parklands to set up Parklands MCA Jayendra Malde who was arrested  in August this in year over a 5.7 millions shillings graft scandal .

Malde was arrested for allegedly demanding  bribe from Chatur Rahim so that t it can influence a committee report chaired by Malde in alleged grabbed land probe involving Concord hotel.

Appearing before powers and privileges commiteee Sumra says he has nothing personal with Malde and that he was only acting on behalf of the Chatur family and protecting them from extortion.

Ethics and anti corruption commission released Malde on bail and he was never  charged in court over the same allegations.

Rahim Chatur who is said to have given the money as a bribe also denied giving out money to Malde  and that he only realized that MCA was arrested through social media.

‘’ Yes its is true that i learnt his arrest through the social media and  is also true that I did not give outh the money  everything was handled by Sumra,’’ Chatur said.
