Universities Academic Staff Union UASU is now warning the suspended vice chancellor of University of Nairobi Prof Peter Mbithi against using what they term as an orthodox means to come at the university.
Addressing media on Friday at the UoN main campus UASU Secretary general Constantine Wasonga accused Mbithi of using universty staff members, students and lecturers to disrupt current acting vice Chancellor Isaac Mbeche.
‘‘Let them be peace at the university of Nairobi..I want to impress the students not be misused by forces who are hell bent to destroy university of Nairobi, let students know their role, let them study ,graduate and go home.’’ Wasonga stated.
The same were echoed by UASU chairman Prof Muga Kolale who asked Mbithi to concentrate with his court case and not to interfere with the smooth running of the institution.
‘‘Whoever is concerned has gone to court and that is his right,we will allow him to enjoy his right coupled with leave ,but we will not allow him to interfere when we have embarked on the path to restore sanity and good governance in the University of Nairobi.’’ Kolale said.
Mbithi moved to court challenging the decision, to send him on a compulsory leave saying due process was not followed by his employer.
Meanwhile UASU maintains that they will fight his return at the helm of the institution using all the necessary ‘weapons’ including corridors of justice.
