Nairobi city county workers are embroiled in a court battle with the  Salaries and remuneration Commission (SRC)  over their 15% salary increment that was earlier agreed on by the Nairobi County.

SRC wants the striking  workers to resume duty with immediate effect and engage their employers when on duty.

The move has been strongly opposed by Nairobi City County Workers Union secretary general Benson Oliang’a Oriaro who has termed it as sideshow meant to derail workers course.

“We  are questioning the parameters the SRC used  to take us to court bearing in mind that  they are not our employers. But we want to tell them nothing will stop us from fighting for our rights and money.” Oriaro added.

Meanwhile the strike has hit its second week with various sectors hailing.

There was also a crisis meeting between Nairobi County secretary and union officials on Monday afternoon but Ghetto Radio is yet to verify how the meeting was concluded.
