Nairobi county has filed a case in court to stop the debtors of the county from crippling county operations.
Speaking to the press Nairobi county lawyer Thomas Letangule says they want the court to give the county at least six months to enable the county audit the bills which amount to 60 billion shillings.
Letangule has said the bills have accumulated from the previous administration and the new management needs time to deal with the issue.
Mr. Letangule has said county officials are being arrested due to the debts owed by the county which is hindering proper functioning of the county.
He has said some of the debts may be fake and others are being inflated that’s why the county needs more time to audit the bills.
