There was drama at the Machakos Law Courts on Thursday after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko stormed the Machakos Police Station in a bid to secure the arrest of six people among them former MP Kalembe Ndile.
The six were being held at the station after they were found operating a hotel that had been ordered closed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Sonko arrived in Machakos with his entourage that included EALA MP Simon Mbugua and politician Stanley Livondo.
The Sonko Rescue Team volunteer group was also in tow. They then demanded the release of the six people.
The six were however released after being arraigned in court
The politicians demanded the release of the five staffers working for Ndile at his Macha Beech Hotel in Machakos town.
The Hotel’s manager was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 50,000 while the other staffers were released on a cash bail of Ksh 15,000.
Sonko’s arrival in Machakos comes just a day after Machakos County governor Alfred Mutua conducted a press brifing at the Nairobi Central Business District castigating the county’s leadership for neglecting the national monuments.
