SOFAPAKA IMPLICATED IN SCANDAL

The Parliamentary Accounts Committee led by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandanyi has implicated some accounting officers in Jubilee government first term in office for engaging in suspicious deals.

According to the report former sports PS Richard Ekai is accused of bank rolling kshs.42.9million to 3 unregistered sports organizations namely Sofapaka, National Sports Council and Football Kenya Federation

The sports Act of 2013 prevents disbursement of funds to an organization that has not been registered in accordance to the act

In 2016 FKF submitted their documents to comply with the Sports Act this coming after they were fined kshs.500, 000 for failing to comply with the current leadership shifting all the blame to the old regime led by Sam Nyamweya.

Sofapaka last season was position 5 in the Kenya premier league after a few seasons of disappointing results

The committee has recommended that investigative agencies do speedy investigations into the scandal within 3 months for the guilty to be prosecuted.
