Grassroot football teams from Kaloleni meet every Easter Season of the year to contest for the Six Aside Title at Majimbo Sports ground,Kaloleni.
Teams from Kaloleni were originally scheduled to compete but Six Aside has since grown and has seen the organizers greatly spread their wings and invite teams from other areas to participate in the tournament.
Six Aside Tournament held annually since 1992 is considered a tradition that seeks to help young people shy away from drugs and crime and commit to football.
This year’s Six Aside Tournament sponsored by the area’s MCA Aspirant Nicodemus Ochieng’ popularly known as ‘Bokande’ is set to be contested by 32 teams from Shauri Moyo,Mbotela, Makongeni and host Kaloleni.
‘Bokande’ is looking forward to partner with more Sponsors who believe in developing football for young people in funding the initiative.
“Six aside was initiated to help reduce the involvement of young people in crime and drugs by engaging them in football”,said ‘Bokande’
“We are calling out on Sponsors to help fund the initiative.This way we’ll be able to rehabilitate drug addicts and young people who involve themselves in crime”.Added ‘Bokande’
The tournament which is at its 19th edition this year began on Friday 25th March and is expected to end on Monday 28th March.
