The car containing the body of Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu has finally been retrieved after an operation that lasted 13 days.
The car was pulled on the surface of the sea at around 4:15 PM in an operation that was led by the Kenya Navy officers.
Government spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna on Wednesday announced that divers had positively identified the vehicle and that the retrieval process was underway.
This was after divers from South Africa had joined the team to help in the recovery mission.
The family of the deceased has been camping at the site for days hoping that the rigorous operation will come to an end.
