Pumwani Clinch the Kothbiro finals spot after shoot-out win over Beirut

pumwaniPumwani All Stars battled its way into the finals of the Kothbiro offseason tournament after beating the home side Beirut in a penalty shootout at Umeme grounds in Ziwani.

As Beirut appeared to be stubborn in the hotly contested clash Mohammed Zuberi’s coached side proved to be penalty specialists after 11 flicks earning them a slot at the finals that is to be played on Sunday.

Pumwani had started strongly with Lumumba Carrick scoring the first goal inside 12 minutes however Chrispinus Odhiambo equalized with a powerfully driven shot at 44’ before the game then went through extra-time deadlocked at 1-1.

With less than 10 minutes left in the match Jesse Were (Harambee Stars) had the chance to net a second goal for Pumwani but he sent his shot over the goal as both teams delivered hard challenges that created a very tense atmosphere.

Scorers for Pumwani All Stars were Joshua Oyoo Dunga Ismael Charles Sunday while Jesse Were missed his kick.

Pumwani advances to their second finals in a row and will face a 1000 street on Sunday,December 8.A repeat of last year’s season.
