Kenya National Private Security Workers Union  has defended the move to arm security guards    saying the move will see  them protected and their places of work secured.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News, the union  secretary general Isaac GM Andabwa rubbished claims  that they  want every private security officer armed.

‘‘What we are pushing is arming section of our officers who are manning malls, government institutions and residential places.’’ He stated.

He further warned politicians against politicizing the matter saying they  do not care about life of private security officers.

Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi has already given a nod to the same but called for more special training before they are armed
