Police have urged Mathare residents raising complaining over extra judicial killings to officially report their complaints for follow up.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Charlton Mureithi has urged the residents to report to the nearest OCS or OCPD or further go to the County Commander and Regional commander.
Mureithi’s sentiments comes against a backdrop of complaints in Mathare area over extra judicial killings allegedly committed by an officer known as Rashid.
Mureithi who is also the Director Internal Affairs Unit at the Police Service however warned the residents against giving false information in their reports.
He says anyone found culpable of giving wrong information against the police will be held accountable for their deeds.
Mureithi was speaking during a stakeholders meeting convened by the Transparency International following a six year project aimed at strengthening democracy, human rights and governance in Kenya.
Other independent offices where wananchi can make complaints against the police are the office of the Ombudman located in Upperhill, The Independent Police Oversight Authority whose office is at Community area at the ACK Gardens Annex building.
Three drug addicts were allegedly shot dead by police in Mathare’s Nigeria area. The killings sparked protests from the residents who demanded that the officer be transferred.
