Police on Tuesday seized 2,000 bags of illegal sugar in a warehouse in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The brown sugar was in 50 KG bags and was labelled as unfit for human consumption.
Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet has said three suspects are currently held in police custody in connection with the contraband consignment.
Boinnet said they are investigating how it ended up in the hands of unscrupulous traders who have been selling it to the public.
Police identified suspects behind the illegal business as three Somalis.
