Police issue alert on Al Shabaab suspects planning attacks in Kenya

The National Police Service has issued a security alert to the public over potential terror attacks by al shabaab militants.

In a press statement the police say that the number of suspected Al Shaabab militants on the Kenya-Somalia border has increased with some trying to get into the country and carry out attacks in Wajir, Mandera and Garissa.

Police say the group’s leader Ibrahim Mohammed alias Sharif Lin Kulul is said to be hiding in the Gedo region in Somalia waiting to enter Kenya.

Mohamed is reported to have sent one Ahmed Dabar into the country to look for potential attack locations in Mandera and Wajir.

Ahmed who is part of Degodia/Omar Fai clan in Wajir was involved in the February 2018 Qarsa Primary School attack on teachers.

His accomplice Abdiwahab Osman Ahmed ,who is also from Wajir, is hiding in Gedo region in Somalia since he went there in 2016.

Abdiwahab’s parents are fully aware and involved in his activities.
