Police officers have intercepted food worth 2 million meant for refugees at the Dadaab camp.

The truck loaded with 600 bags of sorghum was nabbed a road block in Matuu, Machakos county, as it was being transported to Nairobi.

The food, which was packed in 50kg bags, was supposed to have been distributed to refugees at the Dadaab refugee camp.

“The goods were meant for refugees at the Dadaab, but they were diverted to Nairobi for resale,” DCI revealed on Twitter

Three suspects, Abdijabar Sheikh Alio (21), Mohamed Muktar Manoor (31) and Suleiman Ibrahim Siat (45) were arrested during the incident and will be charged with being in possession of unaccustomed goods.

On Wednesday, police officers also recovered stolen items worth millions of shillings which were on transit from Mombasa to Kisumu.
