Police officers and dreadlocked men in uniform have been accused of sexually violating men and women immediately after the announcement of presidential results in August 8th and October 26th.
A number of sexual victims from opposition strongholds say the image of the police officers have been distorted from symbols of safety to those of harm.
Addressing the media Human Rights Watch senior researcher Agnes Odhiambo 65 women 3girls and 3men were sexually violated in Kisumu Bungoma and Nairobi’s Kibera, Mathare and Dandora areas.
Human Rights Watch says the government has failed to support the victims and survivors of sexual violence.
They have further asked the government to establish an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the police and create an enabling environment for victims to testify.
