Kenyans on twitter have joined hands to help veteran NTV journalist Lolani Kalu after his latest photo surfaced online.

The Malimwengu host has been missing from the limelight since he was laid off in December 2017.

According to a curious netizen who managed to track down the journalist, Kalu has been going through a very rough patch.

He shared the photo of Kalu looking frail far away from the jovial TV star Kenyans were once used to.

“Few days ago I asked about the whereabouts of journalist Lolani Kalu. Today Chief Inspector Siyat of Kaloleni Station has found him. I have spoken to Lolani. He is going through hard times & seeking for your help. His number is 0720554930. Kindly send him what you can. Thanks.” Wrote the user identified as Ahmed Mohamed

Kalu is reported to have traveled back to the village to take care of his ailing 80 year old mother.

Further reports indicate that Kalu lost his life savings of Ksh. 1.5 million to a rouge contractor who was to build his retirement home.

The twitter user who shared his plight also revealed that the veteran journalist is calling for help to get a camera, laptop and voice recorder. This is to enable him to start his own content dubbed ‘Lamatamaduni’

“I am the guy in photo ndugu with lolani, he has no addiction on anything. He is a changed person and only caring after his old mum. He needs equipments like computer, camera and others to start his own media outfit called LAMATADUNI.He is talented n ambitious.” Said the netizen

The father of three is said to have hit rock bottom since his retrenchment from NTV three years ago.
