More than 3000 contractors in construction sites have been put on notice by the National Construction Sites for putting up unsafe buildings and defying orders to stop construction.

Principal Secretary for Public Works Professor Paul Maringa says majority of the contractors that have defied notice to stop construction are in Huruma, Githurai and Gachie.

Speaking at a media briefing Maringa stated that the government will not relent in enforcing the law on developers endangering the public lives by building unsafe buildings.

This comes after a building was demolished in Kayole on Friday after there was public outcry over its safety.

Prof.Maringa has also said the demolition of buildings in Nairobi has not stopped and that they are still ongoing to destroy the buildings that have been build on public land and riparian land.
