Mukuru kwa Ruben residents woke up to a shock after their houses and property were demolished.

Kenya Power and the Kenya Railway Company was today demolishing houses constructed along road reserves, railway lines, power lines and pipelines.

The residents claimed that the destruction saw more than 300 mabati structures brought down.

Speaking to us from the scene, Onsonti said the amount of property destroyed amounts to approximately 5 million though there haven’t reported any casualties.

Embaksasi South youth leader Zacharia Nyakundi says they were given eviction notice on 14th February but says the demolition was too soon and the most affected are women and children.
