Street families have raised concern over the rising cases of extrajudicial killings meted on them by the police and Nairobi county officers.
Peter Gakoe Wanjiru a defender of street people says they have buried more than 30 street people between December last year and January this year.
According to Wanjiru several others have sustained serious injuries due to mistreatment by the city officers.
Gekoe has further accused the government of failing to provide adequate protection to street families as required by the constitution.
A research done in 2016 by Consortium of Street Children states that Nairobi alone has an estimate of 60,000 street families.
