Kenyans have expressed outrage over reports of Chinese traders hawking Mitumba clothes in Gikomba market.
A section of Gikomba traders who spoke to Ghetto Radio News say that the traders are giving them an unfair ground for competition.
The traders say the Chinese traders while they get their traders at an expensive cost from the UK, the Chinese traders are getting their products cheaply from China.
Jackson Mwanzia a local mutumba seller at Gikomba says that the Chinese are selling their goods at low prices which attract most customers who go for low priced products.
“The china Mutumba is of low quality compared to that from UK bringing competition to local vendors who sell quality goods.” He adds.
Other Gikomba traders support china trade claiming that its more affordable and it has provided employment to many people who wanted to start Mutumba business but were not able to do so in terms of finances.
Speaking to Elijah Makori a beneficiary of Chinese trade says that Chinese products sell faster than UK products because the common citizens look at the price in order to buy .
“Citizens can start with china products and later when they can afford they can buy UK products.” He adds.
