ODM candidate Ochilo Ayacko has won the senatorial by-elections in Migori county

Ochilo won the seat gathering 83,234 of  the votes cast beating 5 of the contestants who had vied for the seat with his closest rival Eddy Oketch coming second with 60,555 votes.

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has thanked the voters for turning out to vote proving that Migori county is an ODM stronghold and that the party tried direct nomination and consensus in Migori County which worked and should be used in future.

The by-election witnessed a low voter turn out from the registered voters in the county.

Ochillo has said that in the first a 100 days he will  come up with a legislation for funds to be devolved to the subcounty level and also he has sounded a warning to corrupt officials saying he is coming for them.

He also pledged to work with the Governor Obado to serve the interest for the people of Migori.
