Former US President Barrack Obama on Monday launched the state of the art vocational youth center in Kogelo, Siaya County.
Speaking during the official opening of the center Obama took the opportunity to commend the recent handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Obama stated that the two leaders decision to work together will help Kenya make milestones towards achieving development
He also shared fond memories of his experience in Kogelo when he visited the place about 29 years ago.
The sports center launched by Obama today is a project of his sister Auma Obama under the Foundation Sauti Kuu.
Obama also challenged the girl child to play the baskeball game, a game he fell in love with.
Obama’s sister Auma Obama also took the opportunity to clarify clarified a statement she made on Live TV insinuating that Luos are beggars.
Auma who received a backlash especially from the Luo community however stated that she only encouraged Luos to learn how to take care of themselves.
