Nyoi fc has been knocked out of the 40th edition of the annual Kothbiro football tournament by a resilient Puiretto fc in a hotly contested match that was won via post-match penalties.

The teams settled for a one all draw in regulation time with Nyoi scoring one of the fastest goal’s in the History of the tournament with barely a minute played.

Immediately after the start whistle, Qatari based striker Timothy Umeme took the boys from the dumpsite by utter surprise by quickly sneaking past their unsettled defense to lobby a clever chip which left Piuretto’s keeper scrambling in the air with the ball landing at the back of the net.

Piuretto crawled back to the match as both teams wasted some clear chances but Nyoi enjoyed the Lion’s share of the opportunities with more attempts on goal.

On the 80’ the gods of the dumpsite shone on Piuretto as a harmless and weak shot from Tyson Odhiambo got an over confident Nyoi keeper off-guard and just bounced off his hands and magically slid to the back of the net.

The goal confused and shattered Nyoi but gave former Gor Mahia Winger Andrew Oloo’s charges the ammunition to press forward and on the 87’ mid-fielder Kepha Feisal missed a clear opportunity that would have killed the match as his shot went over the bar.

Post-match penalties were to be the decider and Piuretto were full of gusto as their keeper Joseph Githaiga is a renowned shot blocker. He easily blocked Nyoi’s 2 shots as 1 went wide. Piuretto scored 3 straight shots and took the match.

Nyoi’s misses: Naim Ashraf, Timothy Umeme, Iddi Otieno. Scorer: Eric Owino

Piuretto’s scorers: Andrew Juma, Kelly Masinde and Samuel Njaga.
