Nurse who succumbed to Covid-19 buried in Homa Bay

Homa Bay nurse Marian Awuor who succumbed to complications resulting from Covid-19 a week ago has been laid to rest in Homa Bay.

The deceased was laid to rest at her home in Nyang’iela village, Rachuonyo sub-county, Homa Bay, on Friday mid-morning.

She is among ten healthcare workers who have so far succumbed to the coronavirus while in the line of duty across various facilities in the country.

Friends, family and colleagues who attended the burial ceremony described the deceased as a warrior and a hero who gave her life in service of her country.

Awuor had been admitted at the Homa Bay County Hospital with flu-like symptoms in pregnancy where she tested positive for the coronavirus.

She later developed breathing complications and was transferred to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where a series of tests were done with the initial ones also coming out positive.

Ms. Awuor also gave birth to a baby boy while under high dependency care including oxygen augmentation.

The medical care worker’s condition is however said to have worsened on Sunday at 4:00 pm when she passed on from COVID-19 complications, leaving behind the week-old baby.

Until the time of her death, she was  a nurse stationed at the Rachuonyo sub-county hospital
