Nominated MCA Mary Njambi who caught the attention of Kenyans during county speaker Beatrice Elachi’s ouster last year has been suspended.
Njambi together with Laura Mwende, Nancy Muthami and Mary Arivitsa have been suspended over their behavior during the scandal at the county offices in September 2018.
A report from Nairobi County Assembly’s Powers and Privileges Committee said their behavior was uncalled for despite having political differences with Elachi.
While the rest will serve a 10 day suspension, Mary Arivitsa will be suspended for 21 days for ‘heckling and laying on the floor of the House.’
The committee’s chairman Naftali Mathenge said the MCAs’ conduct was likely to reflect adversely on the dignity and integrity of the county assembly.
