Nine year old Lawrence Masira together with Five other Kenyan children are set to grace the Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt as player escorts onto the pitch.
A campaign launched by Visa the official sponsors of the 2019 Total Africa Cup Of Nations will see more than 1100 children from around the world lead out their football heroes onto pitches during tournament.
Lawrence got his luck after his picture went viral while herding cows in the streets of Nairobi dressed in an Arsenal shirt written Ozil 10 with a marker pen that caught the eye of Arsenal player Ozil who later sent him signed Arsenal jersery and boots.
Lawrence unstoppable story landed him a spot on the Player escort team among other five Kenyan children with unstoppable stories to AFCON in Cairo.
The Digital Campaign dubbed unstoppable stories is inviting Kenyans to share unique stories highlighting the achievements of children aged between six to 10 years.
The campaign will run from 28th May 2019.
One week after the call for submission a panel of judges will review the entries and shortlisted participants will be notified following public voting that will be availed on Key Social media platforms.
Speaking at the launch Visa’s Country Manager For Kenya Victor Ndlovu said “ This opportunity will build an interest in football in Kenya for a life time and provide fans an opportunity to see their football heroes.”
Visa is also launching a wider campaign to allow Visa Card Users and Clients to experience the excitement of Total AFCON 2019 which includes opportunities to win tickets to watch live matches at accredited viewing centers in Kenya.
Sheila Charangu from Visa says that AFCON will be launched on three markets in East Africa which will see 58 people will go to watch AFCON courtesy of Visa.
