Traders in Ngara’s Nyayo Market on Friday took to the streets to demonstrate land grabbing of a section of the market’s land.

The traders took a petition to the district commissioner’s office in Kariakor protesting the land grabbing.

The traders allege that Erdemann property limited threatened to displace the traders when the construction for their 34 storey building starts. The building is set to be built on the market’s piece of land.

Peter Juma, the market’s secretary says the traders will not allow Erdemann properties to displace them.

Juma also called Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and Senator Johson Sakaja as well as Starehe Member of parliament Charles Njagua to intervene.

Kariakor District commissioner Kibet Boen has organized a meeting slated for Monday 11th to mediate the situation.
