Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura has been elected Nairobi county assembly speaker in acting capacity following what the honourables termed as ‘vacuum’  that has been left by Beatrice Elachi who was impeached.

Chege was elected unopposed after two members Hon Njambi and nominated MCA Mary Mwami  Ariviza withdrew from the race.

Chege promised to obey the court’s decision in Elachis’  case which is still on-going at the labour and relation court.

At some point there were some scuffle and drama between Ariviza and sergeant at arms when she stormed the chambers when session was on and started heckling the speaker.

According to her she was absent at the assembly and her named was sneaked into the ballot without her knowledge.

Meanwhile the house leadership maintains that the court cannot stop any process in a legislative assembly and that the order stopping Elachi’s  impeachment was served one day later after her  impeachment.
