Jubilee Affirms Elachi As Nairobi Speaker Guyo reinstated Majority
The Jubilee Party has now moved to bring order in the Nairobi County Assembly after leadership squabbles that rocked members following Elachi’s controversial come back.
A meeting between Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and the MCAs affirmed Speaker Beatrice elachi as the speaker and Abdi Guyo as the majority leader.
The biggest political casualty in the fights that took the better part of last week was Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura who has lost his seat as Acting Speaker and the Majority Chief Whip.
Chege has been acting as assembly speaker from the day Elachi was ousted but later failed to obey court order that reinstated Elachi.
In today’s meeting Tuju featured his name nowhere and members were directed to accord Elachi the necessary support.
‘‘For now let the status quo remain and that means it is only this party that can communicate the name of any person for the majority post, for the speaker’s position we must follow the constitution and that means Elachi is the speaker and that is the position of the party.’’ Tuju said.
Tuju described attempts to remove Guyo and replace him with Hamza Mca Mark Ndugu as unprocederal saying that it is only the party that can appoint the house leadership.
At the headquarters both Guyo and Chege avoided the media queries.
Meanwhile governor Mike Sonko is back and all eyes are now on him on whether they will work together again after their recent fallout.
